2022 auction raised over $10,000 & featured “JEDI”, which sold for $1,600 and proceeds went to the Colorado Disability Funding Committee
DENVER — Today, the Polis-Primavera administration launched a Star Wars-themed license plate auction to benefit the Colorado Disability Funding Committee. Aspiring Jedis, Mandalorians, and members of Colorado’s Star Wars fandom have an opportunity to bid for the rights to 14 official Colorado license plate configurations. Bidding starts at $100 and features Star Wars-themed phrases including MRVADER, BOBA, FETT, MYXWING, and OB1WAN. The online auction starts at 8am MT and runs through Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. MT. All proceeds will support the Colorado Disability Funding Committee, which provides grants to support disability application assistance and programs that provide Coloradans with disabilities the resources they need to thrive.
“Colorado’s biggest Star Wars aficionados have another opportunity to bring their galaxy-sized fandom to their earthly vehicle with this Colorado Disability Funding Committee auction,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. “All proceeds provide continued transformative support to non-profit organizations helping make sure the over 851,000 people living with disabilities in our state have the tools and resources they need to thrive. It’s a great opportunity to treat yourself or a fellow fan with a unique gift while supporting an important cause. ”
Auction participants can bid on the rights to use select configuration of letters and numbers on their Colorado license plate or have the ability to purchase a novelty plate and retain the exclusive rights to use the configuration on their Colorado license plate at a later date. The buyer also has the rights to resell the configuration through the Colorado Disability Funding Committee in the future. Individuals are responsible for paying all standard registration fees, a personalized plate production fee, and any additional fees for a designer background, including the 4 historic backgrounds that are now available and also benefit the Colorado Disability Funding Committee, if they do not want the standard white and green license plate.
