DENVER- Tonight, Colorado Governor Jared Polis released a statement following the House and Senate reaching an agreement on a temporary funding measure to avoid a federal government shutdown.

“I am glad that Congress was able to work together and reach a short term agreement through November 17, 2023, that prevents the federal government shutdown that would have negatively impacted our nation’s economy and cut off critical resources and services for millions of Americans. In Colorado, we work across the aisle to deliver real results, I have been proud to sign responsible and bipartisan budgets, new bipartisan laws to save people money on health care, and major investments in workforce development,” said Governor Jared Polis. “I encourage Congress to continue to work together after tonight on a long term package to fund the critical government services and programs Americans rely on.”

Earlier this week, Governor Polis, Vice-Chair of the National Governors Association (NGA), and NGA Chair Governor Spencer Cox urged Congress to pass legislation to keep the federal government open.
