Governor Polis Appoints Amanda J. Philipps to the 4th Judicial District Court and Brittany A. Schneider to the 14th Judicial District Court

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis made two judicial appointments to the 4th and 14th Judicial District Courts.

 

Governor Polis appointed Amanda J. Philipps to the 4th Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Thomas Kane and is effective January 1, 2024.

 

Ms. Philipps is a District Court Magistrate in the 4th Judicial District, a position she has held since 2021. Her docket consists of domestic relations and probate matters. Previously, she was Senior/Supervising Public Defender in the Colorado Springs Office (2016- 2021); Solo Practitioner at Amanda J. Philipps, LLC (2012-2016); Deputy Public Defender in the Colorado Springs Office (2005-2012); and Associate with Berg, Hill, Greenleaf & Ruscitti (2004-2005). Ms. Philipps earned her B.A. from Middlebury College in 2000 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2004.

 

Governor Polis appointed Brittany A. Schneider to the 14th Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Sandra H. Gardner and is effective January 1, 2024.

 

Ms. Schneider is a County Court Judge in the 14th Judicial District, a position she has held since 2020. Her docket consists of criminal and civil matters. Previously, Ms. Schneider was a Deputy District Attorney in the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (2018-2020); Adjunct Instructor at Eastern Wyoming College (2017-2018); Assistant Public Defender in the Wyoming Office of the Public Defender (2015-2018); Owner of the Law Office of Brittany Schneider (2015-2018); Deputy District Attorney in the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, (2015); Personal Banker with Wells Fargo (2014-2015); and Staff Attorney at P. Scott Lowery, PC (2012-2014). Ms. Schneider earned her B.S. from the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs in 2008 and her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2011.
