DENVER - Governor Polis applauded members of the U.S. Senate who helped pass the Respect for Marriage Act.
“In Colorado, we will continue to protect and expand freedom. I am glad the majority of the U.S. Senate has acted to protect the freedom of Americans to marry who they love so people can live the life they want. Government shouldn’t be micromanaging people’s lives and we all should continue to build a country where we are judged by what we do and stand for,” said Governor Polis.
Earlier this year, following a meeting with the President, Gov. Polis called on Congress to pass laws to ensure people have the freedom to marry who they want and to protect the rights of all Americans. The Senate-passed bill now goes to the U.S. House of Representatives.
