DENVER — Today, Governor Polis welcomed First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to Colorado on a visit highlighting the Polis administration’s bold work, in partnership with the legislature, to fill in-demand jobs and make sure Colorado’s workforce has the skills and resources to thrive.
“Here in Colorado, we know that our strong workforce drives our success, and we are continuing to take bold action to fill in-demand jobs and save people money on training and education, which is why we were proud to welcome First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to Colorado to see firsthand how we are expanding opportunity for the people of our state to get skills and training that lead to real success. Through effective state investments combined with landmark federal support, we are saving people money on training and education and expanding access to opportunities for Coloradans at every level of learning,” said Gov. Jared Polis.
Dr. Biden visited the Colorado State Capitol this morning to discuss alongside Governor Polis, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, cabinet members, bipartisan state legislators including Speaker Julie McCluskie, Senate President Steve Fenberg, House Majority Leader Monica Duran, House Minority Leader Mike Lynch, Assistant Minority Leader Rose Pugliese, Senate Majority Leader Dominick Moreno, Senate Minority Leader Paul Lundeen, State Representatives Matthew Martinez and Don Wilson, State Senators Janet Buckner, Jeff Bridges, and Perry Will, community college leaders including Dr. Mordecai Brownlee, President of the Community College of Aurora, community members, and students, the transformative impact of the Polis administration’s innovative investments in partnership with the legislature to fill workforce needs and save people money on advanced training and education.
Earlier in March, Governor Polis, bipartisan state legislators, community college leaders, community members, and students announced two bipartisan pieces of legislation sponsored by Speaker Julie McCluskie, Assistant Minority Leader Rose Pugliese, State Senators Janet Buckner and Perry Will, and State Senator Jeff Bridges, Senate Minority Leader Paul Lundeen, and State Representatives Matthew Martinez and Don Wilson, to connect hardworking Coloradans with the skills and training they need to thrive, saving people money on advanced training and education and filling Colorado’s in-demand jobs.
