DENVER - Today, Governor Polis released the following statement on the Biden Administration decision to finalize protections for the Thompson Divide. These protections are part of the CORE Act, alongside the designation of the Camp Hale National Monument by President Biden in 2022. Governor Polis was an early sponsor of the CORE Act while in Congress and in advancing the Camp Hale National Monument designation.
“The Thompson Divide is iconic to Colorado and with these protections, it will remain an area that will continue to support incredible levels of biodiversity and public enjoyment for generations to come. People come from across the country and around the world to experience our world class outdoors, which is why it's so important to protect our state’s renowned public lands. We are glad the Biden administration incorporated Colorado’s feedback into the final decision,” said Governor Jared Polis.
