DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced a panel to review applications and recommend finalists for the appointment of the new District Attorney for the 15th Judicial District (Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties). The vacancy for District Attorney in the 15th Judicial District was created by the resignation of District Attorney Joshua Vogel, effective October 4, 2024.
“Colorado needs tough District Attorneys across the state who are committed to putting criminals behind bars, upholding the law, and seeking justice for their constituents. I urge well-qualified attorneys who want to make the 15th Judicial District in Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties, safer for everyone to apply for this opening,” said Governor Jared Polis.
Panel members include:
- Governor Bill Ritter, former DA for the 2nd Judicial District (Denver)
- Alexis King, District Attorney for the 1st Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties)
- Dan Rubenstein, District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District (Mesa County)
- Travis Sides, District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District (Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Washington, Sedgwick, Yuma, and Kit Carson Counties)
- Jenna Goldstein, Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Polis
The application process will remain open until qualified candidates are found. Interviews will begin the week of September 16, 2024. Those interested should submit a resume and cover letter to: LegalCounsel@state.co.us. The salary for the District Attorney position is $130,000/year.
