DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced a panel to review applications and recommend finalists to him for the appointment of the new District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District. The vacancy for District Attorney in the 16th Judicial District was created by the appointment of District Attorney William J. Culver to the Otero County Court, effective May 1, 2024.
“District Attorneys play an important role in seeking justice for their constituents and making our communities safer. I encourage qualified attorneys of all backgrounds with a passion for public service to apply,” said Governor Jared Polis.
Panel members include:
- Governor Bill Ritter, former DA for the 2nd Judicial District (Denver)
- Alexis King, DA for the 1st Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties)
- Dan Rubenstein, District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District (Mesa County)
- Jeff Chostner, District Attorney for the 10th Judicial District (Pueblo County)
- Kara Veitch, Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Polis
The application process will remain open until qualified candidates are found. Interviews will begin the week of April 1, 2024. Those interested should submit a resume and cover letter to: gov_officeoflegalcounsel@state.co.us. The salary for the District Attorney position is $130,000/year.
