DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced a panel to review applications and recommend finalists for the appointment of the interim District Attorney for the 7th Judicial District (Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel counties). The vacancy for District Attorney in the 7th Judicial District was created by the resignation of District Attorney Seth Ryan, effective October 31, 2024.
“Colorado deserves strong District Attorneys who are dedicated to putting criminals behind bars, keeping our communities safe, and enforcing the rule of law. I encourage well-qualified attorneys who desire to serve the communities in Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel Counties to apply for this opening,” said Governor Jared Polis.
Panel members include:
- Governor Bill Ritter, former DA for the 2nd Judicial District (Denver)
- Alexis King, District Attorney for the 1st Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin counties)
- Travis Sides, District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District (Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Washington, Sedgwick, Yuma, and Kit Carson counties)
- Dan Hotsenpiler, former District Attorney for the 7th Judicial District (Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel counties)
- Kara Veitch, Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Polis
The application process will remain open until qualified candidates are found. Interviews will begin the week of October 14, 2024. Those interested should submit a resume and cover letter to: LegalCounsel@state.co.us. The salary for the District Attorney position is $140,000/year.
