DENVER - Today, Governor Jared Polis appointed James M. Houston as Clear Creek County’s District II Commissioner, effective immediately.
The vacancy was created by the death of Commissioner Sean Wood on May 6, 2024. Mr. Houston will serve through January 14, 2025, when the next regularly elected commissioner takes office.
“I am grateful to the Coloradans who applied to serve as Clear Creek County Commissioner, their commitment to Colorado and to public service. I look forward to working with Commissioner Houston and the county to continue enhancing the Colorado way of life,” said Governor Jared Polis.
Mr. Houston is the Executive Director for the Clear Creek Schools Foundation, a position he has held since 2022. Previously, he was the Board Chair, Public Policy, and Data Manager at Mountain Youth Network (2016-2023); President for the Clear Creek County School District Board of Education (2013-2021); Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Quest Technologies (2011-2015); and CEO and President at Quest Product Development and Quest Manufacturing (1995-2012). Mr. Houston earned his B.S. from Colorado School of Mines.
