DENVER — Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera today announced two vacancies that have been filled in the Lt. Governor’s office. These roles will also support State efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are thrilled to have Josh and John join our team in the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. I have no doubt that they will both hit the ground running and be incredible assets to the state during this difficult time,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. “Josh’s advocacy and dedication to the disability community are unparalleled and we are lucky to have him. John brings a wealth of knowledge to the Governor’s Commission on Community Service, which is playing a critical role in supporting contact tracers in Colorado and other important community needs. He will be a great addition to the team.”
Josh Winkler is joining the office as the new Disability Funding Committee and Policy Advisor. For the last decade Josh has been advocating for people with disabilities as a volunteer by serving on numerous non-profit and Governor appointed boards, volunteer lobbying, and working with state agencies on regulations and policies. Winkler earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from CU Denver.
John Kelly will join as Serve Colorado’s Executive Director. For the last two years, Kelly worked on the founding team of Generous, a civic-tech start-up dedicated to democratizing philanthropy by providing nonprofits and social causes with advanced tools and resources.
Prior to Generous, he served for eight years in the Obama Administration and focused on service, social innovation, faith-based community work starting at the White House Domestic Policy Council (DPC) where he engaged faith-based and nonprofit organizations on mentoring, anti-hunger efforts, interfaith service, and leadership development.
John followed his tenure at DPC, by becoming the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that leads service, volunteerism, and social innovation for the country. At CNCS, John built a team and implemented a strategy to secure over $194 million in external funds that supported over 11,000 AmeriCorps service opportunities.
