DENVER — Today, Governor Polis announced the following appointments to two councils within the State Apprenticeship Agency: the State Apprenticeship Council and the Interagency Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship. Gov. Polis, Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper joined US Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Denver Pipefitters Local 208 to bring awareness to Registered Apprenticeships. Governor Polis also joined both senators and Secretary Walsh at Metropolitan State University to tour the campus’ advanced aerospace manufacturing lab and discuss the importance of apprenticeship programs to expand job training opportunities and in particular open up access for women and students of color to succeed in any field they choose -- from construction and advanced manufacturing to childcare, healthcare, and hospitality.
DENVER — Today, Governor Polis appointed Kimberly D. Cortez to an opening on the 12th Judicial District Court, which includes Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache Counties. Judge Cortez will fill the judgeship created by the retirement of the Honorable Martin A. Gonzales. The vacancy is effective April 1, 2022.
DENVER – Today, the Polis-Primavera Administration, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Serve Colorado, and Community Resource Center are proud to announce the creation of the Colorado Healthcare Corps. Colorado Healthcare Corps will recruit approximately 150 AmeriCorps members to serve in healthcare facilities statewide, providing critical support to the state’s healthcare system.

DENVER — Governor Jared Polis welcomes U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh to Colorado, as the Secretary visits the state on Wednesday. The visit follows Secretary Walsh’s recent announcement of the Department of Labor’s “Good Jobs Initiative,” a coordinated effort by the Biden-Harris administration to improve job quality nationwide with the implementation of the landmark Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Governor Polis was one of the first governors in the country to support this new law.

DENVER — Today, Governor Jared Polis announced the appointment of Erin M. Rowe Wilson to fill a vacancy on the Routt County Court in the 14th Judicial District. This judgeship is created by the retirement of the Honorable James H. Garrecht. The vacancy is effective March 7, 2022.
GRANADA, CO — Governor Jared Polis released a statement today in commemoration of this weekend’s Day of Remembrance in honor of the over 120,000 Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated at internment camps across the United States, of whom 7,000 men, women, and children were imprisoned at the Granada Relocation Center in Granada, Colorado at the site of Amache from 1942 to 1945. In the aftermath of Executive Order 9066 issued by President Franklin Roosevelt on February 19, 1942, authorizing “the evacuation of all persons deemed a threat to national security from the West Coast to relocation centers further inland,” Colorado remembers the distinction of the Amanche site that had the most Japanese American volunteers to enlist in the military and leaders who had the courage to speak out against these atrocities like former Colorado Governor Ralph L. Carr.
GRAND JUNCTION - Colorado’s economy is recovering faster and stronger than many of its neighboring states and Governor Polis delivered remarks today in Mesa County about ways his administration is saving people and businesses money, investing in infrastructure, focusing on early childhood education and childcare, and improving public safety. Following his remarks, Governor Jared Polis joined state, Mesa County, Grand Junction City officials and Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce members to sign an Executive Order directing the Colorado Broadband Office (CBO) to develop a Broadband Strategic Plan to connect over 99% of Colorado households to high-speed broadband by 2027.
