DENVER — Today, Governor Polis selected Diana K. May to fill a vacancy on the 4th Judicial District Court in El Paso and Teller Counties. This judgeship is created by the retirement of the Honorable G. David Miller. The vacancy is effective March 31, 2022. 

DENVER — Today, Governor Jared Polis signed 13 bills into law to expand educators’ access to retirement benefits and create opportunities for retired educators and school staff to serve their communities, improve youth services and programs to help young Coloradans, provide support for young Coloradans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, protect crime victims and strengthen Colorado’s criminal justice system, build talent pipelines to the health care industry, and modify laws governing special districting and governing public benefit corporations. The Governor also signed one resolution to help preserve and protect vital water resources.

DENVER — Today, Governor Polis and Lt. Governor Primavera joined legislative leadership, bill sponsors, parents, providers, and early childhood education community leaders to highlight the state’s nation-leading progress implementing the new Department of Early Childhood and delivering on the promise of universal preschool for children across Colorado. Universal preschool will save Coloradans on average $4,300 per year. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced that the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) and the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) collected more than 1,000 ballistic helmets and nearly 840 complete sets of surplus body armor from over 25 local law enforcement agencies to send to the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and democracy. This is the latest in a series of actions the Polis Administration has taken in support of democratic and independent Ukraine, and to stand against the unjust Russian aggression. 

DENVER — Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment announced today that Colorado’s unemployment rate has declined to 4.1%, the lowest rate reported since February 2020. Under the Polis administration’s leadership, Colorado’s economic recovery has benefited from consecutive months of declining unemployment rates, and job growth over the past year reached 5.5%, compared to the U.S. rate of 4.6%.

DENVER — Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera welcomed Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff to Colorado, on a visit highlighting the transformative impact of the federal American Rescue Plan stimulus funding that, combined with the Polis-Primavera Administration’s work saving Coloradans money and supporting small businesses, has provided real relief for Coloradans.  

COLORADO SPRINGS - Today, Governor Jared Polis joined the Department of Natural Resources, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and electric vehicle technology maker Rivian to unveil two Rivian Waypoints Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. The installation of chargers offers Coloradans and visitors the historic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while using cleaner transportation options and doubles down on the Polis administration’s commitment to put more than one million electric vehicles on roads by 2030 to protect our air, give consumers more choice and save people money. 

DENVER - The Polis Administration today announced the Cannabis Business Office’s Cannabis Business Pilot Grant, a bold, forward-thinking initiative to save small businesses money, foster a more equitable cannabis industry, and make it easier for Coloradans to thrive in one of the state’s fastest growing industries.
