LONGMONT - Today, Governor Polis, Senate President Steve Fenberg, state legislators, and community leaders rode an inspection train from Denver to Longmont, part of the Front Range Passenger Rail route from Pueblo to Fort Collins. This route, the same route as the unfinished FasTracks proposed service, was selected for the Federal Railroad Administration’s competitive new Corridor Identification program. Historic federal funding provides Colorado with the opportunity to deliver new train service, giving Coloradans more reliable and convenient transit options and protecting Colorado’s air by minimizing traffic. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis and bipartisan legislators, including Speaker Julie McCluskie, Rep. Meghan Lukens, Rep. Matt Soper, Sen. James Coleman, Sen. Jeff Bridges, and Sen. Mark Baisley, announced legislation to continue strengthening Colorado’s workforce and breaking down barriers to lower-cost education and training pathways.

COLORADO - Today, Governor Polis ordered flags to half-staff on Saturday, March 10, 2024, from sunrise to sunset in honor of Steve Zuckerman, an Eagle County paramedic who passed away responding to a backcountry rescue call in Vail on Friday, February 23, 2024. Flags are being lowered in Zuckerman’s honor on the day of his memorial service.

DENVER – Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC) of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced the final 15 recipients of the Colorado State Outdoor Recreation grant (COSORG). Since October 2022, these grants have helped fund regional projects across the state that are advancing Colorado’s outdoor recreation industry and strengthening local economies.

To confirm registration, locate polling locations or drop boxes, or track ballots, Coloradans can visit GoVoteColorado.org. Polls close at 7:00 PM MT on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

DENVER - The Colorado Commission on Higher Education approved 26 proposals for Open Educational Resources (OER) projects that will produce high-quality teaching and learning materials at no cost to Colorado students.

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, Senate President Steve Fenberg, House Speaker Julie McCluskie, and Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib unveiled the portrait of President Joseph R. Biden Jr. As has been done for all United States Presidents, this portrait will hang in the rotunda of the Colorado State Capitol building alongside all 45 previous Presidents.

COLORADO SPRINGS - Today, Governor Polis visited Colorado Springs to discuss the success of universal preschool and read books to students as part of Read Across America Day.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM & DENVER, CO - Today, Governor Jared Polis of Colorado and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico shared a letter encouraging the Department of Commerce to award a Phase 2 Implementation Grant to the Tech Hub of Elevate Quantum (EQ) in Quantum information science and technology (QIS). The letter highlighted the particular strengths of Colorado and New Mexico in the EQ consortium, which consists of more than 118 organizations in the Mountain West.
