LAKEWOOD – This year, Governor Jared Polis signed a comprehensive public safety plan into law. Key components of the Governor’s public safety plan include the creation of new public safety grant programs that will make more than $70 million available to Colorado communities over upcoming years. The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) within the Department of Public Safety and Polis administration is now accepting applications for a pool of $4.2 million in grant funding aimed at preventing youth delinquency and providing early intervention for youth who have entered or are at-risk of entering the juvenile justice system.

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) announced the recipients of the second round of the Outdoor Regional Partnerships grants. These grants will provide transformative support for organizations working to preserve and protect Colorado’s world-class outdoors, iconic wildlife, and precious water resources now and for generations to come. These grants are the result of a landmark Executive Order signed by Governor Polis creating the Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative. This effort will chart a long-term, equitable and sustainable vision for the future of Colorado’s outdoors and outdoor recreation in the face of climate change. The grants will provide better local collaboration and leadership in creating and implementing the Governor’s state-wide vision for Colorado’s world-class outdoors. 

GREEN MOUNTAIN FALLS -  Governor Polis and Lt. Governor Primavera are celebrating the 146th annual Colorado Day and encourage others to participate in honoring our great state. Colorado Day is celebrated on August 1st, the day Colorado joined the union and officially became a state in 1876. 

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis signed a new bipartisan law to provide free transit fares across the state and thanks to this new law, RTD and transit agencies across Colorado will provide at least a month of free transit fares for all Coloradans this summer and next — saving Coloradans money and increasing access to transit.

The Governor invites Coloradans to take part in safely celebrating Colorado in their communities and in their lives.

DENVER - Colorado Governor Jared Polis will serve as the Chair of the bipartisan Western Governors Association (WGA) after previously being elected as the Vice-Chair.

DENVER — Today, Governor Polis appointed Pierce L. Fowler to the 3rd Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Leslie J. Gerbracht and is effective January 10, 2023. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced Heat Beneath Our Feet (HBOF) as his 2023 Western Governors’ Association (WGA) Chair initiative at the Western Governors’ Association meeting. HBOF is a bold initiative that will jump-start the development of geothermal energy generation. HBOF and the exploration of geothermal energy generation is an innovative approach to expanding clean energy resources, saving people money, and promoting bipartisan partnership with other Western States. 

COLORADO SPRINGS - Today Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera formally proclaimed July as Disability Pride month in a visit to the Independence Center, a disability-focused nonprofit in Colorado Springs. Governor Polis is attending the bipartisan Western Governors Association annual meeting where he will become Chair and will be announcing his new Chair’s initiative this week, and Lieutenant Governor Primavera is acting governor. Today’s action continues the Polis-Primavera administration’s work to build a Colorado for All and ensure Coloradans with disabilities can thrive.
