DENVER - As the Polis Administration continues to prepare for, prevent, and respond to wildfires, Governor Polis encourages Coloradans to take everyday steps to reduce the risk of wildfire spreading in and around homes, actions that save people money, protect property, and support Colorado’s hardworking firefighters.  The Polis Administration continues to take bold action to ensure Coloradans have every tool in the toolbox to prevent small sparks from becoming destructive wildfires.

DENVER - Under the leadership of Governor Polis, Colorado is well on its way to achieving 100% renewable energy by 2040. This past winter, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to coordinate and develop a regional clean hydrogen hub - the Western Inter-States Hydrogen Hub. Today, on behalf of Western Inter-States Hydrogen Hub, the Wyoming Energy Authority is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a prime contractor. This position will assist efforts across the four-state region to submit a proposal to the Department of Energy (DOE) for the funding opportunity announcement “Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs.” If awarded, the prime contractor will neutrally and fairly manage the implementation of the regional hydrogen hub project to drive maximum impact. 

DENVER - Governor Polis continues to encourage Coloradans to support Colorado farmers and ranchers by shopping at local farmers’ markets. With dozens of farmers’ markets across the state every day of the week, Colorado’s fun farmers’ markets support local farmers & ranchers, boost Colorado’s strong economy, and are a great way to connect with friends and neighbors.

DENVER - During its bi-monthly meeting today, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) - the state’s water policy agency considered and unanimously approved the Governor’s request for  $17 million to kick-start local-level implementation of the recently updated Colorado Water Plan.

Air Quality Enterprise Board

The Air Quality Enterprise Board collects fees from stationary sources to support a variety of services that inform fee payer operations and to facilitate dialogue between fee payers and the community. The enterprise, through  the  department and contractors, funds science-based, unbiased air quality modeling, monitoring, assessment, data analysis, and research, and provides emission mitigation services when sought by fee payers.

GOLDEN - This morning, at a fire station in Golden, Governor Polis signed an Executive Order helping Colorado’s state employees serve as volunteer firefighters and first responders. The Governor’s action directs all state agencies and departments to provide up to five days of additional paid leave for deployed volunteer firefighters and emergency responders. Gov. Polis was joined this morning by Stan Hilkey, Executive Director of the Department of Public Safety, Dan Gibbs, Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources, Alan Fletcher, Chief of Fairmount Fire Rescue and members of Fairmount Fire Rescue. 

AURORA - On the tenth anniversary of the Aurora Theater shooting, Governor Jared Polis released the following statement: 

AURORA - Today, Governor Polis, joined by the Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Executive Director Dan Gibbs, Department of Revenue Executive Director Mark Ferrandino, state legislators, and community leaders, announced the very first recipients of the Outdoor Equity grant, which increases access to outdoor opportunities for all Coloradans and provides resources to underserved students and communities to help increase environmental learning opportunities, education, and outdoor fun.

DENVER - In the past six months, the Polis Administration has both made historic investments and implemented numerous other initiatives aimed at cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution emissions, according to a newly released biannual progress report on the Colorado Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap.
