COMMERCE CITY - Governor Polis, alongside Representatives Chris deGruy Kennedy and Mike Weismann, Senate President Steve Fenberg and Senator Chris Hansen, signed a law that refers property tax changes to the ballot and provides major property tax cuts for seniors, businesses and homeowners. The cost of housing continues to go up and as a result, Colorado homeowners received notices showing increases in the value of their homes between 30-40% and up to 70% in some communities. Coloradans are demanding action and this proposal is a long-term solution to provide property tax relief and keep housing affordable for the next decade.
GRAND JUNCTION - Today, Governor Polis delivered commencement addresses to the graduating class of Colorado Mesa University and is signing legislation into law in Grand Junction, Clifton, Rifle, Edwards, Glenwood Springs and Eagle County.
PINE - Today, Governor Polis signed bills into law at Staunton State Park to support local governments and Colorado’s world-class state parks system and wildlife.
PUEBLO - Governor Polis and his administration applauded the U.S. Department of Energy for awarding funding to the Colorado School of Mines to develop a regional CO2 storage hub to address emissions from cement, hydrogen, and power plants, including geologic characterization efforts at two sites in Colorado’s Pueblo region. This funding is a result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act. Governor Polis was one of the first governors in the country to support this transformational legislation, which Congress passed with support from the majority of Colorado’s federal delegation. The Governor and Will Toor Executive Director of the Colorado Energy Office supported the application for this federal funding.
