DENVER - Today, Governor Polis took executive action to memorialize his verbal disaster declaration from July 5, 2024, in response to an avian flu outbreak in Weld County. This declaration activated the State Emergency Operations Plan and directed the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to take all necessary and appropriate State actions to assist with response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.

STATEWIDE - Today, Governor Polis issued a verbal declaration of disaster emergency for the Stone Mountain Fire, in addition to the declarations he made earlier today for the Alexander Mountain and Currant Creek Fires. This verbal declaration activates the State Emergency Operations Plan and directs the Department of Public Safety and its Divisions of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) and Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) to take all necessary and appropriate actions to assist with response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for the Stone Mountain Fire.
