STATEWIDE - This afternoon, Governor Polis took executive action, giving verbal declarations of disaster emergency and authorization to provide urgent state support for response efforts to the Alexander Mountain and Currant Creek Fires. These verbal declarations activate the State Emergency Operations Plan and direct the Department of Public Safety and its Divisions of Emergency Management (OEM) and Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) to take all necessary and appropriate actions to assist with response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.

STATEWIDE - Through a comprehensive, government-wide approach, the State of Colorado is supporting the response, management, and containment of fires across the front range and western slope including in San Miguel, Delta, Boulder and Larimer Counties, and monitoring for any new fires. State and federal aircraft are responding to a new wildfire in Lyons, the Stone Mountain Fire.

PARK COUNTY – Today, Governor Jared Polis toured Colorado’s newest State Wildlife Area at Collard Ranch. This pristine 1,860-acre property, acquired by Colorado Parks and Wildlife in March 2024, protects critical habitat, animal migration corridors, and increases hunting and fishing opportunities for Coloradans.

DENVER – Today, Gov. Jared Polis hosted a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the United States, Shigeo Yamada, at the Governor’s Mansion. Colorado and Japan are strong economic and diplomatic partners. Gov. Polis and Ambassador Yamada discussed opportunities to strengthen the relationship, including aerospace, quantum, and climate-resilient technologies.
