DENVER - Colorado students submitted nearly 66,000 college and university admissions applications during Colorado Free Application Days. The seventh annual statewide initiative took place from Tuesday, Oct. 15 through Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024. The campaign increased participation from last year’s effort and saved students more than $2.8 million in waived fees. 

FRISCO - Governor Polis, the Colorado Energy Office (CEO), and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced today that the state’s first National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program funded EV fast-charging site is now open in Frisco, CO. Located at the AC Hotel Frisco, Colorado, this is the first of at least 60 NEVI-funded sites expected to open in the state over the next two years. 

DENVER - This week, the federal government, through the Department of Health & Human Services and the U.S. Department of Treasury, announced that the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) will receive $339 million in pass-through funding for its health insurance initiatives, bringing total pass-through funds awarded since 2020 to $1.49 billion. 

LONGMONT – Today, Governor Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced that Stored Energy Systems (SENS), a provider of nonstop direct current (DC) power for critical infrastructure, has selected Longmont, Colorado for expansion. 

BOULDER - Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) joined members of Elevate Quantum, CU Boulder, Colorado State University, and Colorado School of Mines to celebrate the ribbon cutting of a new 13,000-square-foot facility in East-Boulder. Office space for growing quantum companies and state-of-the-art scientific equipment will give these entities a physical space to transform ideas for quantum technologies into products that will benefit consumers in Colorado and beyond. 

DENVER/THORNTON - Today Governor Polis visited the Denver Language School Gilpin Campus in Denver and the Global Village Academy North in Thornton, which he mentioned in his State of the State address, to celebrate educational success in Colorado. 

METRO DENVER/AURORA - Today, Governor Polis made community visits across Commerce City, Aurora and Denver. 

The Governor visited the South Platte Crossing apartments in Commerce City. These apartments included 60 units and are located near bus and transit, providing easy transportation access for tenants. The units are available to households earning up to 30% of Area Median Income (AMI) to those earning up to 80% AMI. The project received funding from the Department of Local Affairs and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis and the Division of Fire Prevention and Control provided an update on the Colorado resources that the state has provided to fight the devastating fires in California.
