BERTHOUD PASS  - As part of the Polis administration’s ongoing plans to fix Colorado’s roads, Colorado Department of Transportation has teams of contracted and in-house maintenance crews repairing and repaving the state’s most damaged roads, including sections of the Interstate 70 mountain corridor and Berthoud Pass. Both areas took a significant weather related drubbings  from last winter’s severe weather impacts across Colorado. Earlier this year, CDOT requested and received $25 million of additional funding from the Colorado Transportation Commission to address critical pavement conditions across the state. This additional funding allowed this critical work to be done without canceling any construction projects that had already been planned for 2023.

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis issued an Executive Order memorializing verbal action taken in response to the Lowline Fire in Gunnison County.

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Polis-Primavera Administration and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced today that Boecore, an aerospace and defense engineering company that specializes in software solutions, systems engineering and cybersecurity, has selected Colorado Springs, Colorado for expansion. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced the 2023 funding recipients of the Human-Bear Conflict Reduction Community Grant. This grant program provides funding for local communities, municipalities, businesses and nonprofit organizations working to create innovative ways to reduce human-bear conflict and keep communities safe.

DENVER - Colorado's housing supply has not kept pace with population growth. The state has current unmet housing needs of tens of thousands of units and will continue to grow — it is estimated the state will add 1.72 million people by 2050. Nearly one-third of Colorado households spend more than 30% of their income on housing and people are forced to live further away from where they work, leading to increased traffic and decreased access to job opportunities. In order to help address this ongoing challenge, Colorado Governor Jared Polis took action, signing a new executive order today. 

DENVER - From August 21 - September 29, 2023, organizations helping instill a sense of wonder, excitement, and responsibility for the environment in Colorado youth can apply for financial support from the Colorado Outdoor Equity Grant Program (OEGP), which will award $2 million in Outdoor Equity Grants this December.

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Labor (CDLE) announced Colorado’s unemployment rate of 2.9% has stayed below 3.0% for 15 consecutive months and remains below pre-pandemic levels. 

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis appointed Magistrate Ryan P. Loewer to the 1st Judicial District Court Bench. The vacancy was created by the retirement of the Honorable Lily W. Oeffler and is effective September 1, 2023.

Initiative applied to the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to secure federal designation as Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs): the Colorado Cleanrange Consortium, representing advanced energy and cleantech industries, and Elevate Quantum. These applications further cement Colorado’s position as a national leader in expanding US-based technology and innovation while diversifying our state’s economy and creating new, good-paying jobs at home.
