ATLANTIC CITY — Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis was elected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Bipartisan National Governors Association (NGA) by his gubernatorial peers from across the country and political spectrum. 

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis applauded the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval of “Opill” (norgestrel), a daily oral contraceptive available for use without a prescription. Opill is the first of its kind to be approved by the FDA and is expected to become available nationwide in the first quarter of 2024 without a doctor's prescription or prior visit. 

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis highlighted Colorado’s farmers’ markets, roadside stands and other opportunities for Coloradans to shop locally and eat fresh. Colorado’s agriculture industry is a crucial part of the state’s economy. By shopping at a farmers’ market or roadside stand, Coloradans can support small businesses and local economies and have access to some of the freshest food available. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) announced the fourth round of funding recipients of the Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative. This grant program supports coalitions that bring broad interests together to ensure that Colorado’s lands and waters thrive to sustain healthy wildlife and treasured outdoor recreation opportunities. With the Regional Partnership Initiative, conservation and outdoor recreation interests, land managers and local government are working together to tackle challenges and advance opportunities for innovative approaches for stewarding Colorado’s outdoors. 

DENVER – Today, Governor Polis and the Department of Local Affairs announced the third round of Transformational Affordable Housing Grant (TAHG) recipients, providing transformative support to 13 Colorado counties. This grant is overseen by the Division of Housing (DOH) of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). 

DENVER - Today, Governor Jared Polis appointed Mark Ferrandino to lead the Office of State Planning and Budget (OSPB). 

LOVELAND — Today, Governor Polis, Senator Bennet, Congressman Neguse, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Associate Administrator Doug Kinkoph, State Representative Brianna Titone and broadband contributors from all over the state shared exciting plans for the more than $826,000,000 million funding awarded by the Biden Administration and the National Telecommunications Information Agency (NTIA).

DENVER — The Colorado Department of Early Childhood recently awarded 1,141 Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado providers more than $15.3 million in the first round of Capacity Building Grants using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds that were requested in the Governor’s Budget and approved by the legislature. The Capacity Building Grants fund education materials and supplies, health care materials and supplies, technology, furniture, and site infrastructure. 

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed Christopher B. Rhamey to fill a vacancy on the First Judicial District Court.  The vacancy is created by the resignation of the Honorable Robert Lochary and is effective July 29, 2023. 

DENVER - The United States Supreme Court ruled today in the case of 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis issued the following statement related to the decision and other misguided rulings from the Court this term. Notably, Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act continues to be constitutional and this ruling does not change that. Nevertheless, today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of discrimination and created a pathway for wrong-minded businesses to discriminate against anyone by claiming they are selling expressive or artistic services.
