DENVER – After more than a decade of intensive efforts to rescue the greenback cutthroat trout from the brink of extinction, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Friday it has discovered that the state fish is naturally reproducing in Herman Gulch, one of the first places the agency stocked it in its native South Platte River drainage.

DENVER — John Kelly of Serve Colorado was named the 2022 Outstanding Commission Executive Director Award recipient at the virtual awards ceremony hosted by America’s Service Commissions (ASC) on September 22. The America 250 - Colorado 150 commission is created in History Colorado to develop programs and plan for the official observance across Colorado of the semiquincentennial anniversary of the founding of the United States, as marked by the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and the sesquicentennial anniversary of Colorado statehood.

DENVER — Today the Governor appointed Robert R. Gunning to the 20th Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Norma A. Sierra and is effective October 6, 2022. 

DENVER — Today, Governor Polis signed an Executive Order to amend and extend  the COVID-19 disaster declaration, which allows agencies to continue to access State and federal funding for rapid response to changes in the public health environment due to COVID-19. It also supports the health care system to remain appropriately staffed and prepared to respond to public health. The amendments remove provisions which are no longer needed for COVID-19 response.

DENVER — Today, Governor Polis appointed Katharine E. Lum and Karl L. Schock to the Colorado Court of Appeals. Ms. Lum will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael H. Berger. The vacancy is effective October 29, 2022. Mr. Schock will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable David J. Richman. The vacancy is effective November 5, 2022.

DENVER -   Today, Governor Polis sent a letter to the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice urging sentencing reforms to promote public safety, reduce crime, and make Colorado communities safer as a part of the Polis Administration’s ongoing work to make Colorado one of the ten safest states in the nation over the next five years.
